Wei He

Dr. Wei He is a policy expert in sanctions, anti-money laundering and US export control related compliance. Dr. He's forthcoming book The Role of World Financial Institutions in Enforcing US Sanctions and AML (Sep 30th, 2019, Social Science Press, Beijing) introduces and analyzes the sophisticated legislative and institutional settings that incentivize financial institutions throughout the world to assist the US government in enforcing relevant US foreign policies and laws. Dr. He joined J.P. Morgan Chase as a senior compliance officer in Department of Global Financial Crime Compliance in 2013 and was promoted to Vice President, responsible for a series of important global financial sanctions and AML program evaluation projects. She earned her Ph.D in Public Policy from Duke University and has published a number of articles and book chapters.

Laurie Rybak

Laurie Rybak has over ten years combined experience in the International Legal and Financial Industries.  After graduating from Florida International Law School in Miami, Florida Laurie became a licensed attorney in the State of New York.  For the past seven years Laurie has worked in Quality and Controls for a large International Financial Firm.  

 

Laurie obtained her B.A. and B.S. from The Ohio State University while earning Academic All-Big Ten Honors as a member of the Women's Lacrosse Team.  She has studied in Frankfurt, Germany and Toledo, Spain.  Her research interests include International Truth and Reconciliation Commissions, International Sports and Entertainment Law, and International Real Estate Law.

Joy Guo

Joy Guo is an entrepreneur and co-founder of HGInnovation, a venture capital fund that focuses on healthcare technologies and services both in the US and in China. Prior to the investor role, Joy has served in various capacities including business administration, sales and marketing at tech startups and traditional manufacturing companies in the US. 

 

Joy has been active in local and national civic organizations for decades. Joy currently serves on the national board of United Chinese Americans.  As Convention Program Committee Chair, she was instrumental in organizing two UCA national conventions in DC in 2016 and in 2018.

 

A graduate of Peking University with a BA in Economics,  Joy received her master degree in Economics specializing in population and Development Economics from New York University.  

John Jacobs

John J. Jacobs has broad experience with private investments, and a successful track record of growing and managing emerging businesses. His specialty areas include financial services, alternative investments including venture capital and private equity, cybersecurity, privacy and legal services. In his current role as a Director at ACA Compliance Group, John provides advice to hedge fund and private equity clients regarding financial compliance and regulatory matters, and also manages the electronic correspondence surveillance department. He oversees, trains and coaches a team of supervisors and analysts, and helped grow ACA's Pittsburgh office from 8 to 90 employees in 5 years. John often makes presentations at conferences and on client webcasts, and is an individual investor in multiple early-stage companies. He was a Founding Member of the Pittsburgh chapter of the Keiretsu Forum, the world’s largest angel investor network, a member of the Angel Capital Association, and a mentor with the Founder Institute.  John earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Pittsburgh, and also holds the Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US) designation. He is a member of the Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics and a member of the American Bar Association.  

Dongmei Hu

Dongmei Hu is a finance executive strategist and innovation leader with 15+ years of proven results in chief finance office function and product owner roles in financial service. Expert at leading and partnering to develop multi-year strategy, financial planning and execution measurement at the product, channel and enterprise level. Strong focus on customer experience, operation research, profitability, risk and control. Thrives on organization change and transformation.

Ethan Hu

Mr. Ethan Hu has more than 20 years of experience in research, business development, and investment in the healthcare industry. Mr. Hu is currently a Vice President and Head of Business Development at the Biosensors Group, responsible for product licensing, investment, and M&A. Before that, Mr. Hu was with the Frankenman Group as CFO and a board director.

 

Previously, he was with CITIC PE, one of the largest private equity firm in China, as a Vice President in healthcare investment. Mr. Hu had also worked at Lilly Ventures and Novartis Oncology with various responsibilities. Mr. Hu graduated from Peking University major in Biology, and later on received his PhD of Molecular Biology from University of Maryland and MBA from the University of Chicago.

Caroline Wagner

Dr. Caroline S. Wagner, a faculty member at the John Glenn College of Public Affairs, teaches public policy and leadership. She holds the Ambassador Milton A. and Roslyn Z. Wolf Chair in International Affairs, and she served as the Director of the Battelle Center for Science & Technology Policy from 2011-2017, all at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. Dr. Wagner’s scholarship focuses on science, technology and innovation. Dr. Wagner earned a doctorate from the University of Amsterdam in Science and Technology Dynamics; she received a Master of Arts degree in Science, Technology and Public Policy from George Washington University; and she holds a Bachelor of Arts from Trinity College.

 

Prior to joining Ohio State’s faculty in 2011, Dr. Wagner was a policy analyst working with and for government in a career that spanned more than thirty years and three continents. At The RAND Corporation (1994-2005), she served as deputy to the director of the Science & Technology Policy Institute—a think tank for the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy. She has also served twice as a staff member for the U.S. Congress, once on a committee, and once as an analyst for the Office of Technology Assessment. For eight years, she analyzed foreign investments in science and technology for the U.S. Department of State. She lived and worked in Seoul, South Korea (1988-1990) and Leiden, Netherlands (2001-2005). She is an elected member of the Council on Foreign Relations and a distinguished fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
